Diversity, Immigration and Integration
As immigration becomes the primary source of labour force and population growth in Canada, it is important to better understand the factors that have led to the deterioration of immigrant labour market outcomes in the past two decades, the economic and social barriers newcomers face and ways to improve immigrantsâ integration.
The program focused on the following themes:
- Examining the factors that affect immigrantsâ labour market and economic outcomes and policy options to encourage improvement
- Assessing the implications of Canadaâs growing reliance on temporary foreign workers
- Analyzing the factors at play in immigrantsâ social integration
- Exploring pathways to civic and political participation and integration of Canadaâs immigrant communities
