Family Policy

This research program, completed in 2009, reviewed and critiqued federal and provincial policies that focus on families and children, including work-life balance. The goal was to examine the strengths and weaknesses of policies on income support, daycare, early childhood education and parental leave, and to consider alternative policy approaches. The research raised important questions about governments’ choices and priorities, particularly concerning gender and family equity and human capital development.
