Election 2019 event: Emerging policy themes

September 20, 2019 Print

OTTAWA – Members of the media are invited to the first event in a series of Policy Options breakfasts for a conversation on emerging policy themes in the 2019 federal election campaign.

Canada’s federal parties have begun to share their main policy proposals. The leaders – and third-party players, too – will be trying to shape the narrative of the campaign, pushing certain themes and messages that they hope will resonate with voters. Our panel of experts will take an analytical look at the policy issues that have been highlighted on the hustings, and evaluate the quality of the debate during this 43rd general election.

Panellists:

  • Mike De Souza is an investigative producer with Global News. He has covered politics and the energy industry for more than 15 years for several media outlets.
  • Tasha Kheiriddin is founder and CEO of Ellipsum Communications. She is also a columnist at GlobalNews.ca and does political and current-affairs commentary on Global, CBC News Network and Radio Canada.
  • Jennifer Robson is an associate professor at Carleton University’s Clayton H. Riddell Graduate Program in Political Management. Prior to joining Carleton, she worked in the federal public service, in the voluntary sector and as a political advisor.

Moderator:

  • Jennifer Ditchburn is editor-in-chief of Policy Options.
