Expert panel examines precarious work in Canada

Ottawa – Members of the media are invited to join three leading experts on January 25 for a panel discussion on precarious work, hosted by Policy Options magazine, a digital publication of the Institute for Research on Public Policy.

The panellists will examine what precarious work looks like in Canada today, the driving forces behind the loss of employment and wage stability in certain sectors, and how policy-makers might build more resilience into our social programs.

The members of the panel are

  • Francis Fong, chief economist at Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada
  • Sunil Johal, policy director with the University of Toronto’s Mowat Centre
  • Wendy Vuyk, regional coordinator of the Eastern Region at the Ontario Centre for Workforce Innovation

The moderator will be

  • Jennifer Ditchburn, editor-in-chief of Policy Options

What:   In search of the next gig: A snapshot of precarious work in Canada today
