Are Canadians saving enough for retirement?

On September 17, 2013, the Ottawa Economics Association hosted “The Great Pension Debate,” with IRPP author Michael Wolfson (University of Ottawa) and Vijay Jog (Carleton University).

The discussion centred around two key questions: Are Canadians saving enough for their retirement? Should the Canada and Quebec Pension Plans be expanded?

Wolfson’s presentation summarizes his research findings in this area drawn from two important IRPP studies:

Not-So-Modest Options for Expanding the CPP/QPP (July 2013)

Projecting the Adequacy of Canadians’ Retirement Incomes: Current Prospects and Possible Reform Options (April 2011)
