Pierre-Olivier Pineau

Pierre-Olivier Pineau is a full professor in the Department of Decision Sciences at HEC Montréal and has held the Chair in Energy Sector Management since December 2013. He specializes in energy policy, particularly in the electricity sector and regional integration. He has published numerous articles on the energy sector, most of which explore the links between energy and certain aspects of sustainable development. He regularly appears in the media to analyze current energy issues. He has produced various reports for the government and public agencies. His book L’équilibre énergétique was released in February 2023 and won the 2024 Hubert-Reeves Prize for the best Quebec popular science book. He is a researcher and fellow at Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations (CIRANO). Before joining HEC Montréal, he was a professor at the University of Victoria (British Columbia) from 2001 to 2006.
