En 2019, la Colombie-Britannique a ouvert la voie \u00e0 son application dans le cadre de sa loi sur les \u00e9valuations environnementales (<em>Environmental Assesssment Act<\/em>) et d\u2019un projet de loi centr\u00e9 sur sa mise en \u0153uvre. Ces lois ont marqu\u00e9 pour la province un changement d\u2019approche fondamental au chapitre de ses relations avec les peuples autochtones. Deux lois f\u00e9d\u00e9rales sur l\u2019environnement adopt\u00e9es cette m\u00eame ann\u00e9e se r\u00e9f\u00e8rent aussi \u00e0 la\u2008DNUDPA, mais elles refl\u00e8tent une approche plus prudente. Ottawa a annonc\u00e9 qu\u2019il pr\u00e9senterait avant la fin de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2020 une loi sur la DNUDPA.
