He was Canada\u2019s co-lead market access negotiator for the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and, until June 2013, for the TransPacific Partnership agreement. Before joining the federal government he worked at the Economic Council of Canada, from 1977 to 1979, and at the Institute for Research on Public Policy \u2014 in its International Economics Program \u2014 from 1980 to 1987. He has a bachelor\u2019s in economics (hons.) from the University of Waterloo and a master\u2019s in economics from Carleton University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/irpp.org\/fr\/recherche\/trade\/\"><em>Redesigning Canadian Trade Policies for New Global Realities<\/em><\/a>, edited by Stephen Tapp, Ari Van Assche and Robert Wolfe, is the sixth volume of The Art of the State.
