The Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP) is looking for a deputy editor (French) for its award-winning news and commentary site, Policy Options. The candidate will be working with evidence-based analyses written by some of Canada’s top researchers and thought leaders, helping to fuel and inform public-policy debate in the country.
Working in a team in both French and English, the deputy editor will develop and manage the French content of Policy Options, including in-depth editing, translating English articles into French, creating social media posts, searching for authors and pertinent topics, and editorial project planning.
The deputy editor will have a keen interest in public policy and politics in Quebec and the rest of Canada, and aim to reflect the diversity of Canadian society through the choice of subjects and authors.
The deputy editor must have a keen eye for detail and the ability to turn complex articles into language accessible to any reader, while negotiating changes with writers. Experience on the editing desk of a French-language print or web publication is a must. The deputy editor must have a superior mastery of editing and managing authors and their work.
If you are an excellent editor who lacks a few of the qualifications for the deputy editor position, we encourage you to apply anyway. We also have the possibility of offering a less senior position at our publication.
