Montreal – The Institute for Research on Public Policy congratulates Alain Noël on winning a 2018 Digital Publishing Award for his work in the IRPP’s digital magazine Policy Options.

The Digital Publishing Awards, produced by the National Media Awards Foundation, promote and reward the achievements of those who create digital publishing content in Canada. Noël’s silver medal win for Best Blog or Online-only Column was announced at a ceremony in Toronto on May 29.

“Alain’s writing is focused on engaging readers in a deeper reflection on Quebec’s socioeconomic and political realities. This includes explaining Quebec to readers in the rest of Canada, while also challenging the thinking of his fellow Quebecers,” said Policy Options deputy editor Félice Schaefli, who attended the ceremony.

Alain Noël is a professor of political science at the Université de Montréal. His French-language column focuses on social policy, including income inequality and the fight against poverty, federalism, and the clashes between the left and the right in our democracies.

This is the second Digital Publishing Award for Policy Options in two years. Last year, the University of Alberta’s Timothy Caulfield won in the Best Blog or Online-only Column category for his writing on trends in health and medicine.

The Institute for Research on Public Policy is an independent, national, bilingual, not-for-profit organization based in Montreal. To receive updates from the IRPP, please subscribe to our e-mail list.
