We’re hiring: Deputy Editor (English), Policy Options

Job summary

The Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP) is looking for a Deputy Editor for its award-winning digital magazine, Policy Options. Based in Montreal, the Deputy Editor will assist the Editor-in-Chief with the daily management of the content of the magazine, including editing, solicitation of submissions, and planning of future projects.

Essential qualifications

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years experience working in a fast-paced journalistic or communications setting. She/he must have English-language editing skills that include the ability to turn complex material into content that is accessible to a broad readership, copy-editing and proofreading. French-to-English translation skills would be an asset.

The candidate has strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and can handle a variety of tasks efficiently within short deadlines. She/he enjoys working as part of a team, and employs a high degree of professionalism and sensitivity when working with external partners and the public. The person is an enthusiastic observer of Canadian politics and public policy, and can demonstrate an understanding of journalism ethics.

The ability to work in a bilingual work environment is required. Experience with WordPress and social media platforms is also an asset.
