Ian Brodie

Ian Brodie is professor of political science at the University of Calgary. Between 2005 and  2008 he was chief of staff to the Leader of the Opposition and then to the Prime Minister.  Before that, he was executive director of the Conservative Party of Canada.  After leaving government, he worked as a strategic adviser at the Inter-American Development Bank and a Visiting Fellow at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada.

He is Director of Studies at Canadian Global Affairs Institute, and a fellow at the Centre for Military, Strategic and Security Studies. The author of At the Centre of Government (2018) and Friends of the Court: The Privileging of Interest Group Litigants in Canada (2001), he is a graduate of the University of Calgary and McGill University.
