Frances Abele


Frances Abele is a research fellow at the Institute for Research on Public Policy. In this capacity she provided strategic direction on the IRPP’s Aboriginal Quality of Life research program and co-edited the collected volume Northern Exposure: Peoples, Powers and Prospects in Canada’s North (IRPP, May 2009). She has worked with Aboriginal people and studied northern political and economic development for over 30 years, and was deputy director of research for the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples. She is academic director of the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation and a professor at the School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University.
