Charles Beach


Charles Beach provides advice on the Faces of Aging program, which looks at pensions and retirement, and the Diversity, Immigration and Integration research program, which investigates the labour market integration of immigrants. He has taught economics at Queen’s University since 1972, and he has been professor emeritus since 2012. He is vice-president of the Canadian Economics Association. He was co-founder of the Canadian Econometric Study Group and the Canadian Employment Research Forum, and he was chair of the Data Liberation Initiative at Statistics Canada. From 1995 to 2002 he was editor of Canadian Public Policy, and from 2001 to 2009 he was director of the John Deutsch Institute at Queen’s University. He has published 17 books and a large number of research and policy papers related to Canadian employment, skills and labour markets. His current research interests are in income and earnings inequality and Canadian immigration policy. He earned a BA at McGill University and a Ph.D. at Princeton University.
