MEDIA ADVISORY: IRPP experts available to comment on federal budget

Montreal — Experts from the Institute for Research on Public Policy are available to provide commentary on the upcoming 2022 federal budget, on areas such as fiscal policy, Canada’s social safety net, and federal-provincial relations.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland will present her budget on Thursday, April 7. What will it mean for Canada’s debt and deficit picture? How could increased spending for defence, pharmacare and dental care impact the government’s fiscal outlook? Will there be room for increases to provincial health transfers and major spending on green infrastructure? And what measures might be announced to help alleviate the financial pressures that Canadians are facing?
